Biology Week: Guided Tours of the Tropical Ravine
Discover the historic glasshouses at the Tropical Ravine and Palm House with a guided tour.

When? Until Saturday 17 October 2026
Where? Belfast Botanic Gardens, Belfast

Explore the history of the Tropical Ravine and Palm House, home to endangered plant species, with a free guided tour.

Some of the plants inside, for example the cycads, are over 200 years old and endangered in their native habitat. The Tropical Ravine is where the giant waterlily, Victoria Amazonica, was grown in Ireland for the first time in 1852 and is still planted each year. 

Guided tours take place on Tuesdays at 2pm, Thursdays at 2pm, and Saturdays at 11am.

These guided tours are free to attend but places are limited and advance notice is essential for large groups.
