An exciting hands-on Eco-Hub workshop exploring life in the soil during Between The Trees Festival.

Between The Trees Festival, from its inception, was set up to address a very real problem “how to reconnect people with the natural world?”. Therefore, alongside its incredible music line-up, the festival offers an inspiring programme of nature and science-themed talks, guided walks, hands-on workshops and thought-provoking debates that invite visitors to connect more deeply with the natural world.

At the heart of this year's workshop programme is the Eco-Hub, part-funded by the RSB's Regional Event Grant. This year's theme explores the hidden world beneath our feet "the secret life of soil". Festival-goers can get hands-on making natural earth pigments, uncover the fascinating science of composting, and investigate soil organisms under the microscope. There will also be moth trapping sessions, plus a collaborative art project celebrating the vital role of seagrass habitats in protecting our coastlines, capturing carbon and supporting marine life.

In the Seren Barn, an inspiring line-up of speakers will share ideas, stories and practical knowledge before audiences come together for the ever-popular Big Sunday Debate. This year's programme includes:
  • Soil to Self: How Microbes Connect Us Through Food - Dina Kingsnorth (Patch of the Planet)
  • Permaculture Planting Design - Pippa Chapman (Perma Forest)
  • Stories That Change the World: What 30 Years of Permaculture Has Taught Me - Maddy Harland (Permaculture magazine)
  • Forgotten Forests - Jonathan Mullard
  • A Career in Conservation - Iolo Williams
  • The Big Sunday Debate: What About Our Water? featuring a panel from Project Seagrass, Leigh Day, Afonydd Cymru and Surfers Against Sewage.
There is also a fantastic programme of guided walks available that depart from Pentre throughout the weekend. Join experts for bird identification walks, discover the edible treasures of the landscape through foraging, reconnect with nature on mindful walks, or learn how to record and experience the rich soundscape of the natural world.

Whether you are curious about the science beneath your feet, passionate about conservation, or simply looking to experience nature in a new way, Between The Trees offers a weekend of discovery, inspiration and unforgettable experiences.
