World of Biology (Regional Event Grant funded)
UWS Zoology staff invite the public to an exciting interactive event at Calderglen Zoo.

Where? Calderglen Country Park, Strathaven Rd, East Kilbride, Glasgow
Staff from the Zoology programme at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) will be running an exciting interactive public biology event at Calderglen Zoo, Lanarkshire during the summer of 2026.
This event will involve animal handling opportunities, mini bioblitzes, aquatic and terrestrial organism microscopy activities, and short talks regarding the importance of protecting biodiversity.
The Zoology programme at UWS is regularly rated as one of the best in the UK. With input from zoo staff, UWS zoology staff and the UWS Student Zoological Society, this event will be an amazing opportunity to learn about the world of biology and get some hands-on zoology experience.
This event will take place in July 2026 - date to be confirmed in due course.
Booking and cost
This event is open to everyone and booking is not necessary. The first 200 people to attend the event will be provided with free admission to the zoo thanks to the sponsorship provided by the RSB.
